In December 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Blue Kimono by Charles Webster Hawthorne. The »bidding war« ended at USD 57,600.00 (€ 48,640.43), 65% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Webster Hawthorne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portuguese Fisherboy in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 298,000.00 (€ 271,056.94).

Im Dezember 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Blue Kimono von Charles Webster Hawthorne zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 57.600,00 (€ 48.640,43) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Webster Hawthorne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portuguese Fisherboy im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 298.000,00 (€ 271.056,94).
