Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The favourite hunters of Mrs Robert Townley Parker of Cuerden Hall, Lancashire, in a wooded coastal landscape by Charles Towne was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2019. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,586.25) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A bay hunter and three pointers in a landscape with Lyston Hall beyond in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 138,650.00 (€ 214,460.15).
