Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art, which included the work British A Gentleman On A Galloping Chestnut Horse by Charles Towne. It changed hands for a price of USD 24,375.00 (€ 17,512.03) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A bay hunter and three pointers in a landscape with Lyston Hall beyond in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 138,650.00 (€ 214,460.15).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit British A Gentleman On A Galloping Chestnut Horse von Charles Towne zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 24.375,00 (€ 17.512,03) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Towne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A bay hunter and three pointers in a landscape with Lyston Hall beyond im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 138.650,00 (€ 214.460,15).
