Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work A Horseman And Figures On A Country Lane by Charles Towne for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,941.60). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & Early British Paintings at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A bay hunter and three pointers in a landscape with Lyston Hall beyond in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 138,650.00 (€ 214,460.15).
