Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mrs Ann Henry, in white dress with frilled collar, black choker, white scarf in her powdered hair falling in loose curls over her left shoulder; sky background by Charles Robertson was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in December 2008. The price achieved of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 1,969.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Robertson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Carpet Seller, Cairo in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 663,000.00 (€ 769,032.45).
