Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Before The White Man Came (Indian Game Hunt) by Charles Marion Russell for USD 375,000.00 (€ 340,321.26). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Marion Russell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Meat for the Tribe, which sold at auction in December 2005 for USD 1,472,000.00 (€ 1,243,033.27).
