Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian & Edwardian Art, which included the work The Census Of April The 8Th 1861 by Charles Landseer. The price achieved of GBP 36,000.00 (€ 53,468.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Landseer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Return of the Dove to the Ark, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 133,150.00 (€ 194,394.80).
