Auction result well in line with expectations

In September 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work The first steps by Charles Landseer. The price achieved of GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,734.69) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Landseer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Return of the Dove to the Ark in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 133,150.00 (€ 194,394.80).
