In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction Victorian Pictures, which included the work The Surrender of Arundel Castle to Sir William Waller, January 6th, 1643. "Shortly after, the enemy sent a drum, with Colonel Rawlins and Major Mullins, to treat for a final agreement, upon which treaty they condescended to Sir William." - p. 66 "On by Charles Landseer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,150.00 (€ 33,656.31), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Landseer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Return of the Dove to the Ark in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 133,150.00 (€ 194,394.80).

"Shortly after, the enemy sent a drum, with Colonel Rawlins and Major Mullins, to treat for a final agreement, upon which treaty they condescended to Sir William." - p. 66 "On von Charles Landseer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 21.150,00 (€ 33.656,31) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Landseer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Return of the Dove to the Ark im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 133.150,00 (€ 194.394,80).
