This artwork by Carsten Höller achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in March 2017. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Doppelpilzvitrine (24 Doppelpilze) sold for GBP 52,500.00 (€ 61,524.82) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carsten Höller - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hippopotamus, which sold at auction in February 2008 for USD 198,000.00 (€ 130,374.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Carsten Höller erzielte im März 2017 bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Doppelpilzvitrine (24 Doppelpilze) für GBP 52.500,00 (€ 61.524,82) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Carsten Höller mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hippopotamus beobachtet, die im Februar 2008 für USD 198.000,00 (€ 130.374,66) versteigert wurde.
