Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mirror View of the North Dome, Yosemite by Carleton E. Watkins was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,200.00 (€ 3,023.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carleton E. Watkins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'The Garrison, Columbia River' in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 492,000.00 (€ 360,175.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Mirror View of the North Dome, Yosemite von Carleton E. Watkins kam im September diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.200,00 (€ 3.023,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Carleton E. Watkins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'The Garrison, Columbia River' im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 492.000,00 (€ 360.175,70).
