Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tocoye, North Dome, 3729 Feet, Yosemite by Carleton E. Watkins was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in New York in October this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 17,780.00 (€ 16,824.38) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carleton E. Watkins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'The Garrison, Columbia River' in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 492,000.00 (€ 360,175.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Tocoye, North Dome, 3729 Feet, Yosemite von Carleton E. Watkins wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 17.780,00 (€ 16.824,38) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Carleton E. Watkins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'The Garrison, Columbia River' im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 492.000,00 (€ 360.175,70).
