The work Músico by Cândido Portinari was sold in the Latin American Paintings auction at Christies in New York in November 2011. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,750.00 (€ 17,654.05), 32% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cândido Portinari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Meninos soltando pipas in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,443,750.00 (€ 1,111,603.02).

Die Arbeit Músico von Cândido Portinari wurde im November 2011 in der Auktion Latin American Paintings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 17.654,05) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cândido Portinari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Meninos soltando pipas im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.443.750,00 (€ 1.111.603,02).
