Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2018 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Tiga Figur Wanita (Three Female Figures) by But Mochtar. The price achieved of HKD 275,000.00 (€ 30,965.41) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 220,000.00 – 350,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by But Mochtar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Patung Elemen Estetik (Study Of Esthetic Principles) in April 2014 with an auction result of HKD 3,640,000.00 (€ 338,543.62).
