The work Family by But Mochtar was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2019. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 1,625,000.00 (€ 185,735.10), 71% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by But Mochtar; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Patung Elemen Estetik (Study Of Esthetic Principles) sold at auction in April 2014 with the realized price of HKD 3,640,000.00 (€ 338,543.62).

Die Arbeit Family von But Mochtar wurde im Oktober 2019 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Evening Sale bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 1.625.000,00 (€ 185.735,10) und damit 71% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von But Mochtar; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Patung Elemen Estetik (Study Of Esthetic Principles) im April 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 3.640.000,00 (€ 338.543,62).
