This artwork by Burt Glinn achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2017. In the Photographs Including Property from the Museum of Modern Art auction, the work Marilyn Monroe, c. 1960 sold for USD 11,250.00 (€ 9,658.31) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Burt Glinn; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Maria Callas, La Scala, Italie, 1955 sold at auction in September 2017 with the realized price of EUR 11,250.00.
