In April 2021 Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work The Cat, 1980 by Brett Whiteley. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 27,060.00 (€ 22,493.77), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brett Whiteley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 2,880,000.00 (€ 1,770,858.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im April 2021 führte Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Cat, 1980 von Brett Whiteley zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 27.060,00 (€ 22.493,77) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Brett Whiteley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 2.880.000,00 (€ 1.770.858,54).
