Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Cat, 1980 by Brett Whiteley was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Bonhams in Sydney in November last year. It achieved a price of AUD 29,520.00 (€ 19,208.16), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brett Whiteley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 2,880,000.00 (€ 1,770,858.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Cat, 1980 von Brett Whiteley wurde im November letzten Jahres in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Bonhams in Sydney versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von AUD 29.520,00 (€ 19.208,16) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Brett Whiteley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 2.880.000,00 (€ 1.770.858,54).
