This artwork by Brett Whiteley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Sidney in May last year. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Untitled, 1960-61 sold for AUD 36,900.00 (€ 34,386.36) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brett Whiteley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 2,880,000.00 (€ 1,770,858.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Brett Whiteley erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Sidney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled, 1960-61 für AUD 36.900,00 (€ 34.386,36) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Brett Whiteley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 2.880.000,00 (€ 1.770.858,54).
