Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Bonhams in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Glass House Mountains, Queensland, 1976 by Brett Whiteley. The price achieved of AUD 79,950.00 (€ 52,022.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brett Whiteley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 2,880,000.00 (€ 1,770,858.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Sydney die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Glass House Mountains, Queensland, 1976 von Brett Whiteley zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 79.950,00 (€ 52.022,10) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Brett Whiteley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 2.880.000,00 (€ 1.770.858,54).
