BLINKY PALERMO (1943-1977) 12 Original Lithographien the complete set of twelve lithographs, on laid paper, 1970, each signed, dated and numbered I-XII respectively in pencil, each annotated 'probedruck' (a proof set aside from the edition of 50, there were also five artist’s proof sets), published by Fred Jahn in Edition der Galerie Heiner Friedrich, Munich, each the full sheet, in very good condition Each Sheet: 20 1 ⁄ 8 x 19 1 ⁄ 4 in. (510 x 490 mm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 12 Original Lithographien by Blinky Palermo was auctioned at Christies in July this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,430.13). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Blinky Palermo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ohne Titel in May last year with an auction result of USD 5,640,000.00 (€ 5,255,800.95).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 12 Original Lithographien von Blinky Palermo im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.430,13) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Blinky Palermo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ohne Titel im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.640.000,00 (€ 5.255.800,95).
