Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Lady Franklin At John Fawkner'S Hotel by William Blamire Young was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in May 2009. The price achieved of AUD 14,400.00 (€ 8,148.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Blamire Young have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work VIIth Australian Light Horse Victorian Mounted Rifles, 1904; B. Battery. Royal Australian Field Artillery, 1904 in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 49,250.00 (€ 56,962.85).
