In March 2019 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included this untitled work by Bikash Bhattacharjee. The »bidding war« ended at USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,699.32), 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Bikash Bhattacharjee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Red Balloon in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 150,099.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im März 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Bikash Bhattacharjee zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.699,32) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bikash Bhattacharjee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Red Balloon im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.000,00 (€ 150.099,90).
