Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work Portrait of - Bala Dasi by Bikash Bhattacharjee. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 50,400.00 (€ 51,517.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bikash Bhattacharjee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Balloon, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 102,000.00 (€ 150,099.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of - Bala Dasi von Bikash Bhattacharjee zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 50.400,00 (€ 51.517,94) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Bikash Bhattacharjee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Balloon beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für GBP 102.000,00 (€ 150.099,90) versteigert wurde.
