Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Lady) by Bikash Bhattacharjee was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,560.00 (€ 7,727.69). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bikash Bhattacharjee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Balloon in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 150,099.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Lady) von Bikash Bhattacharjee im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.560,00 (€ 7.727,69) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bikash Bhattacharjee erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Balloon im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.000,00 (€ 150.099,90).
