Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Portrait Of An Old Man) by Bikash Bhattacharjee was sold in the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Online auction at Christies in New York in March this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,794.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bikash Bhattacharjee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Balloon in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 150,099.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (Portrait Of An Old Man) von Bikash Bhattacharjee wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.794,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bikash Bhattacharjee erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Balloon im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.000,00 (€ 150.099,90).
