Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (School Children) by Bikash Bhattacharjee was sold in the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 39,469.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bikash Bhattacharjee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Balloon, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 102,000.00 (€ 150,099.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (School Children) von Bikash Bhattacharjee wurde im Oktober 2018 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 39.469,20) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Bikash Bhattacharjee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Balloon beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für GBP 102.000,00 (€ 150.099,90) versteigert wurde.
