Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Large Seated Armed Figure by Bernard Meadows was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 23,750.00 (€ 28,250.36). Admittedly, works by Bernard Meadows have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Startled Bird in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 161,852.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Large Seated Armed Figure von Bernard Meadows im Januar 2020 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 23.750,00 (€ 28.250,36) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bernard Meadows auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Startled Bird im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 134.500,00 (€ 161.852,75).
