Auction result misses estimated price range
In September this year a collector was able to acquire the work Three Works from the Circle series: Boat (Circle Study), Circle (First State), and Circle (Study) by Benny Andrews for USD 704.00 (€ 665.15). This price was achieved in the auction Prints & Photographs | Bonhams Skinner at Bonhams in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benny Andrews achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bath in May last year with an auction result of USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,806.26).
