Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Adoration of the Shepherds by Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,220.26). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gegenstücke: Schlachtfest vor einem Wirtshaus - Würfelnde Soldaten und Reiter vor einem Marketenderzelt. in March 2007 with an auction result of CHF 57,600.00 (€ 35,514.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Adoration of the Shepherds von Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp im März 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.890,00 (€ 2.220,26) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gegenstücke: Schlachtfest vor einem Wirtshaus - Würfelnde Soldaten und Reiter vor einem Marketenderzelt. im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 57.600,00 (€ 35.514,40).
