Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Adoration of the Magi by Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp was sold in the Quality in Detail. The Juli and Andrew Wieg Collection auction at Sothebys in London in March 2021. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,552.42), 21% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gegenstücke: Schlachtfest vor einem Wirtshaus - Würfelnde Soldaten und Reiter vor einem Marketenderzelt. in March 2007 with an auction result of CHF 57,600.00 (€ 35,514.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Adoration of the Magi von Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Quality in Detail. The Juli and Andrew Wieg Collection bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.552,42) und damit 21% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Gegenstücke: Schlachtfest vor einem Wirtshaus - Würfelnde Soldaten und Reiter vor einem Marketenderzelt. im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 57.600,00 (€ 35.514,40).
