Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Argus, Mercury And Io by Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2017. The price achieved of USD 5,625.00 (€ 4,929.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Benjamin Gerritsz. Cuyp have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gegenstücke: Schlachtfest vor einem Wirtshaus - Würfelnde Soldaten und Reiter vor einem Marketenderzelt. in March 2007 with an auction result of CHF 57,600.00 (€ 35,514.40).
