Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Woman With A Basket by Benedicto Reyes Cabrera was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 200,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 1,220,000.00 (€ 121,453.93). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Benedicto Reyes Cabrera - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Sabel), which sold at auction in October 2020 for HKD 2,772,000.00 (€ 307,021.55).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Woman With A Basket von Benedicto Reyes Cabrera im Oktober 2012 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 200.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 1.220.000,00 (€ 121.453,93) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Benedicto Reyes Cabrera mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Sabel) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für HKD 2.772.000,00 (€ 307.021,55) versteigert wurde.
