In April this year Christies in New York held the auction The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples, which included the work The Aegean Suite by Barbara Hepworth. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,320.00 (€ 36,521.74), 61% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barbara Hepworth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Family of Man: Ancestor II in November this year with an auction result of USD 11,565,000.00 (€ 10,602,310.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Aegean Suite von Barbara Hepworth zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.320,00 (€ 36.521,74) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barbara Hepworth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Family of Man: Ancestor II im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.565.000,00 (€ 10.602.310,23).
