The work "Ålkistan i Djupvik" (Motif from Djupvik, Öland) by Axel Kargel was sold in the Modern Sale auction at Bukowski in Stockholm in April 2014. The auction ended at the price of SEK 30,000.00 (€ 3,324.44), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of SEK 25,000.00 – 30,000.00. Other works by Axel Kargel have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2013 the work House by the sea, Öland, Sweden was auctioned for SEK 40,000.00 (€ 4,684.08).
