Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work A study for a pediment: A coat-of-arms with the order of the Holy Spirit, and allegories of Prudence and Liberality by Augustin Pajou was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2002, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 15,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 58,750.00 (€ 68,361.65). Admittedly, works by Augustin Pajou have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work L'Amour dominateur des éléments in November last year with an auction result of EUR 314,880.00.
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit A study for a pediment: A coat-of-arms with the order of the Holy Spirit, and allegories of Prudence and Liberality von Augustin Pajou im Januar 2002 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches.
