Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work The Royal Victoria Yacht Club's schooner Caroline, hove to, in a gale off Ryde, 20 May 1863 by Arthur Wellington Fowles. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,673.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Wellington Fowles achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Indian troopship Serapis arriving at Portsmouth, 11 May 1876, with H.R.H. The Prince of Wales aboard her on his return from India, and the Royal yacht Osborne following her in in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 36,489.33).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Indian troopship Serapis arriving at Portsmouth, 11 May 1876, with H.R.H. The Prince of Wales aboard her on his return from India, and the Royal yacht Osborne following her in im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebn
