In January 2013 Christies in London held the auction The Sunday Sale, which included the work Southampton-Cowes Ferries Off Calshot Castle by Arthur Wellington Fowles. The result of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,836.28) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Arthur Wellington Fowles have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Indian troopship Serapis arriving at Portsmouth, 11 May 1876, with H.R.H. The Prince of Wales aboard her on his return from India, and the Royal yacht Osborne following her in in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 36,489.33).
