Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Sunday by Arthur Hughes for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,384.36). This price was achieved in the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 380,650.00 (€ 555,736.99).
