In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction Victorian and Traditonalist Pictures, which included the work A Visit to Grandmother by Arthur Hughes. The result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,002.59) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 380,650.00 (€ 555,736.99).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian and Traditonalist Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Visit to Grandmother von Arthur Hughes zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 14.002,59) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Hughes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 380.650,00 (€ 555.736,99).
