Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Voices: Harmony and Discord by Arthur Bowen Davies was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,679.26). Admittedly, works by Arthur Bowen Davies have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Heart's Hansel in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 67,000.00 (€ 45,615.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two Voices: Harmony and Discord von Arthur Bowen Davies im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.679,26) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Bowen Davies auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Heart's Hansel im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 67.000,00 (€ 45.615,47).
