Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Garden in Sochi by Arshile Gorky was worth GBP 8,585,700.00 (€ 10,085,985.82) to a buyer in March 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Modern Renaissance: A Cross-Category Sale at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 2,800,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arshile Gorky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Charred Beloved I, which sold at auction in November this year for USD 23,410,000.00 (€ 21,461,312.80).

Die Arbeit Garden in Sochi von Arshile Gorky war einem Käufer im März 2021 GBP 8.585.700,00 (€ 10.085.985,82) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Modern Renaissance: A Cross-Category Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.800.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Arshile Gorky mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Charred Beloved I beobachtet, die im November diesen Jahres für USD 23.410.000,00 (€ 21.461.312,80) versteigert wurde.
