Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Nighttime, Enigma, and Nostalgia; Head of a Woman in Profile by Arshile Gorky. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 61,440.00 (€ 56,325.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arshile Gorky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Charred Beloved I in November this year with an auction result of USD 23,410,000.00 (€ 21,461,312.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nighttime, Enigma, and Nostalgia; Head of a Woman in Profile von Arshile Gorky zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 61.440,00 (€ 56.325,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arshile Gorky erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Charred Beloved I im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.410.000,00 (€ 21.461.312,80).
