Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Charonte by April Gornik was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 875.00 (€ 627.38). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by April Gornik achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Delicate Hour (For My Father) in March this year with an auction result of USD 75,600.00 (€ 69,536.42).
