The auction ended at the price of USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,155.33), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antonio de Simone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Royal Thames Yacht Club schooner Marchesa: In Neapolitan waters (illustrated); and In heavy weather, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 7,171.76).
