The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,042.95), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antonio de Simone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Royal Thames Yacht Club schooner Marchesa: In Neapolitan waters (illustrated); and In heavy weather, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 7,171.76).

Die Arbeit The Royal Yacht Squadron's steam yacht Jason in the Channel off the Needles von Antonio de Simone wurde im November 2011 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 2.042,95) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Antonio de Simone mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Royal Thames Yacht Club schooner Marchesa: In Neapolitan waters (illustrated); and In heavy weather beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 4.780,00 (€ 7.171,76) versteigert wurde.
