The work The Royal Yacht Squadron's steam yacht Jason in the Channel off the Needles by Antonio de Simone was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2011. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,042.95), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antonio de Simone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Royal Thames Yacht Club schooner Marchesa: In Neapolitan waters (illustrated); and In heavy weather, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 7,171.76).
