Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The American yawl Xarifa in the Bay of Naples; and The American yawl Xarifa at sea in a swell by Antonio de Simone was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,079.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antonio de Simone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Royal Thames Yacht Club schooner Marchesa: In Neapolitan waters (illustrated); and In heavy weather, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 7,171.76).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 2.079,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
