Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of Emily Winter Rose, bust-length, unfinished by Anthony Frederick Augustus Sandys was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 560.61). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anthony Frederick Augustus Sandys achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British love'S Shadow in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 494,500.00 (€ 343,976.07).
