The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,480.47), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Anthony Devis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A pastoral river landscape with an elegant couple conversing in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 13,113.28).

Die Arbeit Travellers ascending a mountain von Anthony Devis wurde im Dezember 2005 in der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.020,00 (€ 1.480,47) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Anthony Devis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A pastoral river landscape with an elegant couple conversing im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 13.113,28).
