Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Andy Warhol could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Self-Portrait changed hands for USD 518,500.00 (€ 408,460.69) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
